Students must learn the vocabulary of drawing and be able to demonstrate an applied knowledge of the vocabulary in critiquing the work of others.

VISUAL ORGANIZATION I (2D DESIGN PRINCIPLES)

The visual Organization I course is a comprehensive study of 2 dimensional design. The course will focus on the elements and principles of 2-D design and students will acquire a working knowledge of the basic aspects of visual communication. Students will also learn about aspects of creativity and the design process and will develop their problem solving skills.
The emphasis of the course will be on each student acquiring the ability to use the language of design in both the creation of 2-D work and in the discussion of 2-D work. Students will be introduced to some basic design techniques and materials and all students will learn how to use them to effectively create their 2-D designs. Most exercises will be geared towards the development of students problem solving skills and students will also learn to critique 2-D work using the vocabulary of design.

PRINTMAKING I

The class in an introduction to printmaking studio techniques and will survey a variety of methods used in the creation of prints and multiples.
